Honda<\/a> has given its CBR500R<\/a> midsize sportbike<\/a> a minor refresh for the 2024 model year, updating the styling and a few components to give the bike a more appealing look and improve function in some key areas. The streetbike<\/a> is available now from American Honda dealers in either Grand Prix Red or Matte Black Metallic starting at $7,399.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n In terms of aesthetics, the bodywork of the CBR500R is updated with cues taken from the larger Fireblade<\/a> in Honda\u2019s superbike<\/a> lineup. Notable among these changes is the inclusion of winglets, purported to help with handling but likely to be little more than a styling exercise.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n Updates that riders will be sure to notice on the road include new LED headlights that promise to improve visibility in low-light conditions, along with a new 5-inch TFT display screen. From there, riders will be able to dial in the settings of Honda\u2019s Selectable Torque Control system.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n The 471cc twin engine is unchanged, and riders can look forward to a silky-smooth six-speed transmission made even easier to engage thanks to the slip and assist clutch. The bike is lighter than previous models thanks to a redesigned swingarm, and the bike\u2019s nimble character is enhanced by the use of a Showa SFF-BP fork and Pro-Link shock with nine-position spring preload adjustability.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n Since its introduction in 2013<\/a>, the CBR500R has been a favorite among beginner motorcycle<\/a> riders and those on a budget who want sportbike style and an approachable machine.
