The big GS is not only visually different from its almost dainty sister. Never before have seating comfort, ergonomics and wind and weather protection been so harmoniously combined with precise handling, exceptional suspension comfort and smooth running. The new BMW R 1300 GS Adventure has set itself the goal of becoming the benchmark for large adventure motorcycles,” explains Christof Lischka, head of BMW Motorrad Development, in a company release.

Designers gave the R 1300 GS Adventure a more robust-looking tank, which also integrates fastening elements to make securing tank luggage easier. The mill is hailed as more efficient as well, offering riders the maximum number of miles from the generous 7.9-gallon fuel tank. The six-speed transmission is situated below the mill and the shaft drive is built with BMW’s new design which employs larger universal joins and a reduced deflection angle.
